The club was originally formed in
Olney, but moved to Milton Keynes in 1982 by Alan Sanders and Roger
Nye. Both instructors have long since retired from active practice. The club
was left in the capable hands of Ray Munns, one of their
original students, Ray ran the club for 12 years. In February 2010, Ray retired from the
role of Dojo Cho, and passed responsibility for the club to Bryan
Bateman, also one of Alan and Rogers original students.
Milton Keynes Seishin Aikido club is affiliated to the
British
Aikido Board through its membership of the
Lancashire Aikikai,
under the guidance of our Principal, Mr. Bob Spence 6th Dan. Our
chief instructor is Bryan Bateman (3rd
Dan).
We have six instructors qualified by the British Aikido Board.
The club practices traditional Aikido based on the teaching of Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of Aikido. Whilst we practice traditional Aikido, we maintain ourselves to be an open minded Aikido Club, willing to explore the many paths of Aikido.
